District court acts in four cases

Several court cases saw action in U.S. District Court in Bowling Green Tuesday.
Kenson L. Taylor, of Russellville pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine.
Taylor, 24, admitted that on Sept. 11, 2003, he sold crack to a confidential informant. When arrested, Taylor had 17 grams of crack in his possession and the marked money from the buy was discovered nearby, according to the U.S. Attorneys office.
Taylor could receive 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine. He will be sentenced June 7.
Also on Tuesday, Lawrence Tolbert Carter Jr., 32, of Glasgow was sentenced for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine and for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He received seven years in prison and five years of supervised release.
Carter earlier pleaded guilty to the charges resulting from a Dec. 5, 2003, arrest, where meth making materials and a sawed-off shotgun were seized.

U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell sentenced a Bowling Green man Tuesday to nine years in prison and five years supervised release for trafficking in crack cocaine.
Between Feb. 28, 2003, and Oct. 20, 2003, Joshua Martin, 21, of Bowling Green distributed 39 grams of crack, according to the U.S. Attorneys office. He also was convicted of two counts of being an unlawful user of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm.
Also in federal court, Thomas Moulder, 43, of Bowling Green pleaded guilty Feb. 24 to conspiracy to manufacture meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Moulder, who is scheduled to be sentenced June 7, could receive life in prison and a $9 million fine. The mandatory minimum sentence is 15 years, according to the U.S. Attorneys office.
Activity The newly formed Allen County Drug Task Force reported having several operations during February.
The task force investigated and cleaned up two clandestine meth labs, made three buys and arrests and served seven search warrants. In all, 14 people were arrested and seized were 35.7 grams of meth, 7.5 ounces of marijuana, a car and four guns, all with an estimated value of $1.2 million.
Theft A Bowling Green man has reported several hundred dollars worth of tools stolen from a house he was remodeling, according to a Bowling Green Police Department report.
The house, in the 700 block of Chestnut Street, was found Monday with a window broken in the side entrance and several items removed from inside. Missing were an electric drill valued at $100, a tape measure valued at $20 and a toolbox containing various tools valued at $250.
