GLASGOW – Like any coach, Glasgow’s John Tinsley kept telling his players to keep their heads up.
Tinsley’s Scotties battled with rival Barren County from the opening tip, but couldn’t get over the hump.

Even Tinsley knew, however, that the Trojans had Glasgow’s number as he sent in his subs with 1:16 remaining in the game.
Barren County (9-4) used 21-point fourth quarter to put away visiting Glasgow 59-43.
“We really played with a lot of energy,” Barren County coach Steve Riley said. “Except for early in the game and a little stretch in the third quarter, we played pretty well.”
Riley was pleased with Barren County’s effort coming off its 73-69 double overtime loss to Logan County on Tuesday.
“We were very disappointed both mentally and physically with the way we played Tuesday,” he said. “We probably had our toughest practice Wednesday and we really responded well.”
Glasgow (7-6) raced out to a 10-3 lead to start the game before the Trojans took an 11-10 lead with 1:55 left in the first quarter.

Barren County wouldn’t relinquish that lead.
While the Trojans took a 28-19 lead into halftime, the Scotties cut the lead to six at 40-34 with 6:30 left in the third quarter.
Barren County used a quick 5-0 run to boost its lead to 45-34 with 5:45 left in the third quarter.
Seeing its chances slip away, Glasgow trapped and turned up its defensive pressure in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans handled the trap with ease, putting up 21 points in the final frame.
Further hampering the Scotties was the loss of guard Kee Edmunds, who went down with a leg injury in the third quarter.
“We got off to a great start and we got the shots we wanted, they just didn’t go down,” Tinsley said. “I would’ve liked to have Kee Edmunds the last quarter and a half. He’s a big part of our ball club.”
Senior center John Bonnewell led the Trojans with 14 points and three blocks.
Sophomore forward Lee Hubbard was big down the stretch for Barren County, scoring all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter.
“I like the pressure,” senior guard Cody Brewington said. “When they put more pressure on people it gets other people open. If we find the open guy, that’s what wins the game.”

Ashley Johnson headed Glasgow’s effort with 13 points.
“It’s a big win because it’s a district game,” Barren County coach John Butler said.
“I thought we passed the ball extremely well. We handled the ball well and we moved the ball well and that got our shooters open.”
