Drew Vettleson named Hot Rods MVP

Hot Rods outfielder Drew Vettleson was named the 2012 Hot Rods Most Valuable Player, and outfielder Todd Glaesmann was named the 2012 Minor League Player of the Year by the Tampa Bay Rays.
The two Bowling Green players were honored by the Tampa Bay Rays during an awards ceremony Wednesday prior to the Rays game with the Boston Red Sox in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Vettleson led the team with 15 home runs and set the franchise record with 139 hits. He also finished with 20 outfield assists.
Glaesmann led the Rays organization with 21 homers combined between Bowling Green and High A Port Charlotte (Fla.). He appeared in 91 games with the Hot Rods before being promoted, hitting 13 homers with 53 RBIs.
Six other former Hot Rods were also honored by the Rays on Wednesday. Outfielder Kevin Keirmaier was named Best Defensive Player and pitcher Chris Rearick was named Best Reliever. Team MVP honors went to pitcher Alex Colome for Double A Montgomery (Ala.), infielder Derek Dietrich for Charlotte and infielder Ben Kline for the Gulf Coast Rays in rookie ball.
Pitcher Joe Cruz was also honored, receiving the Erik Walker Community Champion award.
