Bowling Green Hot Rods starting pitcher Shane McClanahan struck out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings to help lift BG to a 3-1 win at Lake County (Ohio) on Friday.

McClanahan allowed one run and five hits with three walks to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Bowling Green (23-18) scored all three runs in the fifth, with the BG bullpen tossing 4 1/3 hitless innings behind McClanahan.

Joel Peguero earned his second save of the season with two scoreless innings of work.

Six different Hot Rods had a hit, with Osmy Gregorio finishing with two RBIs. Gregorio, Grant Witherspoon and Roberto Alvarez scored one run each.

The series continues at 5:30 p.m. CDT on Saturday. Lefty Cristopher Sanchez (0-1, 2.25) is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods, while right-hander Shane McCarthy (4-2, 3.41) is scheduled to start for Lake County.
