Greenwood’s Jacks Lancaster dug a hole early in the second set of Wednesday’s Region 4 Boys’ Tennis Tournament singles championship match.

Already trailing 2-0 to Bowling Green’s John Guthrie, Lancaster was facing game point down 40-30 before regrouping to pull even, win that game and then steadily pull away to win the set and the match by a 6-4, 6-2 score.

“I just battled back and fought my way through it till the end,” Lancaster said.

Just a freshman, Wednesday’s win was Lancaster’s third straight regional championship. Rated as the No. 1 player in the state according to Tennis Recruiting Network, Lancaster will be back in action later this month at the KHSAA Tennis State Tournament (May 30-June 1) at the University of Kentucky’s Boone Tennis Center in Lexington.
