Jaida Tooley knew her potential and pounced on the opportunity.

Tooley finished second in the girls’ high jump Friday at the KHSAA Class 2A State Track and Field Championships by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches.

The silver medal for the Warren Central sophomore came one year after finishing fourth at state in her first year competing in the event. She spent more time working on technique this season after seeing the potential from a year ago. She set a personal record during the season with a jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.

“It’s been really great for me,” Tooley said. “I’m so proud of myself and how I worked hard this year and gotten better. I just want to keep doing that until high school is over.”
