Emmah Young

Emmah Young got the message.

After failing to get down a squeeze bunt on two tries during Warren East’s first-round win over Russell County in the opening round of the Region 4 Tournament, the freshman heard about it from Lady Raiders coach Philip McKinney.

Young came through the following night, dropping down a suicide squeeze to drive in one run, and then another that turned into a fielder’s choice to bring in one more run in a 3-0 win over Franklin-Simpson.

Young did it again in Wednesday’s 6-3 championship win over South Warren, dropping down another bunt that brought in a run and later adding a single.

“I don’t usually bunt much, but when he tells me to get it down, I know I have to do it for the team,” Young said.
