Jennifer Kempf, Ryan Rogge and Lauren Caudill combined to pitch two shutouts Wednesday to lead the Western Kentucky to victories over Austin Peay. The Hilltoppers won game one 1-0 and game two 8-0 in Clarksville, Tenn.

Kempf (3-5) scattered two hits in game one. She didn’t allow a hit through the first 31/3 innings before giving up a single to Brittany Williams. The other Governors (1-4) hit came on a single in the sixth.

The Hilltoppers (9-8) plated the lone run of the contest in the sixth inning when former Greenwood star Elizabeth Ferrell tripled to left. She then scored after Kelsey McCauley reached on a error by the shortstop.

The Toppers jumped on the scoreboard early in the second game. A Shannon Smith double scored Lindsay Antone, after she reached on a fielder’s choice. Shelby Smith then blasted a two-run homer to left center to put WKU up 3-0 after two innings.

Antone put WKU up 6-0 in the fifth on her fourth homer of the year and then Horesky blasted her fourth home run in the sixth.
