South Warren sweeps district match

The Van Meter Insurance boys’ and girls’ golf district tournament finished Monday at Bowling Green Country Club.

The first round of the two-day event was played at CrossWinds Golf Course and round two at BGCC. In the girls’ event, South Warren won the team competition with a two-day total of 334. Greenwood placed second at 340.

The Lady Spartans were led by tournament individual champion Jackie Van Meter with a two-day score of 69. Leslie Van Every of Greenwood finished second with a 76 and Mallory Vaughn of South Warren placed third with a 78. Hannah Turner of Warren East and Madeline Rogers of Bowling Green finished tied for fourth with 81.

In the boys’ event, SWHS won the team competition with a two-day total of 313. Bowling Green was second with a 327 and Greenwood was third at 334.

The Spartans were led by the trio of Jared Brown, who shot 73 and placed first overall, CJ Jones, the runner-up with a 75, and Chad Krebs, who placed third with a 78.

Other top finishers were Jack Grise of Bowling Green with a 79, Brett Riley of Warren Central with an 80 and Christian Tooley of Warren East with an 81.
