Western Kentucky women’s golf coach Adam Gary announced Wednesday the signing of transfer Olivia Reed (Carleton, Mich.) in the 2018-19 class.

Reed comes to WKU after two highly successful seasons at Division II Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“I’m really excited to have Olivia join us next year,” Gary said in a news release. “She’s going to bring lots of tournament experience and a strong work ethic to the program. The extra depth will really help us compete at a higher level.”

Reed is the 21st-ranked player in the nation in Division II, according to Golfstat. Her Grand Valley State squad was ranked 10th in the country as a team.

Reed had seven top-10 finishes in nine events as a sophomore, including four top-fives and a tie for first at the 10th Annual Gilda’s Club Laker Fall Invite.

She carried a stroke average of 74.7 in her second college campaign and was named to the GLIAC All-Conference First Team.

Reed was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2017-18 and on the All-GLIAC Second Team. She finished in the top 10 on eight occasions and won her first college tournament at the SVSU Spring Invite.

Coming out of Carleton Airport High School, where she was the only participating golfer, Reed competed outside her high school program as a senior. Some of the events she played included the AJGA Callaway Junior Classic, the U.S. Women’s Open Qualifier, the Women’s Western Golf Association National Amateur Championship, the Golf Association of Michigan’s Girls Junior State Amateur and the larger Women’s Amateur.

As a junior for Carleton Airport in 2015, she was the Monroe County Region Girls’ Golfer of the Year and finished second in the state that season.{&end}
