Western Kentucky outfielder Matthew Meyer was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week, the league said Monday.

The recognition marks the Hilltoppers’ second C-USA Hitter of the Week honor this season, with Ty Batusich winning the award March 7.

Meyer led WKU at the plate during its series win against UAB over the weekend. He posted a .545 batting average and 1.273 slugging percentage in three games, racking up six hits – including two doubles and two home runs – to go along with three runs and five RBIs. Of the Hilltoppers’ 13 runs on the weekend, Meyer scored or knocked in eight of them.

For the season, Meyer is tied for third on the team in doubles (nine) while ranking fourth in runs (23), tying for fourth in home runs (four) and ranking fifth in walks (13) and RBIs (20).

Meyer and the Hilltoppers will be back in action Tuesday when they head to Clarksville, Tenn., to face Austin Peay at 6 p.m.{&end}
