The teams last met in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, when Ty Rogers’ buzzer-beating 3-pointer lifted WKU to a 101-99 win in overtime.
The 12th-seeded Hilltoppers then knocked off San Diego in the second round to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
After the opener against Drake, the Hilltoppers will face Central Michigan or Weber State on Nov. 24 before concluding play Nov. 25.
Central Michigan is coached by Keno Davis, who led the 2008 Drake squad.
Murray State, which does not play WKU in the regular season this year, is on the other side of the bracket. The teams could meet in their final game Nov. 25.
The Gulf Coast Showcase is played at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla. The Hilltopper football team plays the Saturday before the tournament at Florida International in Miami.
