Songs from the 50s will be the focus of the Warren Central fall musical, The Taffetas.

The music revue, starring four Central girls as a quartet of singing sisters is full of wonderful songs that people know and recognize, said Jana Sexton, the shows director and choir director at Warren Central.
Senior Hannah Weakley plays Peggy in the production, which is set on a TV show called Spotlight on Music.
Of course, shes one of the Taffetas, Weakley said. Shes the second oldest, and likes cooking and practicing her shorthand, and guys.
Weakley said she loves the shows music, including Mr. Sandman, Johnny Angel and Lollipop.
The exciting thing is weve been able to do it with the four-part harmony, she said. We do spend the majority of our practice time on the music.
But the singing also requires some acting, which is over the top, very cute, Weakley said.

Of course these girls are wonderfully innocent in the 50s and they take themselves very seriously, she said. But a lot of what they do is very funny. Its really cheesy, fun-type acting.
While only four girls act in The Taffetas, there will be a pre-show concert that features about 30 students singing theater songs.
The shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Warren Central auditorium. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for students. For more information, call 842-7302. Daily News ·813 College St. ·PO Box 90012 ·Bowling Green, KY ·42102 ·270-781-1700
